Utilizing a qualitative research method with a case study approach examines 10 parents of verbally and non-verbally communicative autistic children. The data collection encompasses interviews and documentation techniques with the data analysis comprising data reduction, display, and conclusion followed by verification. The research findings indicate that parental contributions to communication skills enhance the implementation of mediation as a complement to therapy and specialized communication programs recommended by therapists and educators. Interventions are done based on assessments conducted in collaboration with therapists and educators. Intervention modalities, media, and methodologies are diversified to match the child’s needs but the lack of programmed sequences and schedules still emerges. Additionally, parental involvement extends to engaging other family members in the intervention process
Afra Afifah Widianti, Atien Nur Chamidah Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/548 Sat, 25 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Learning Degrees for Students with Special Needs in Inclusion Class Settings https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/383
The aim of this study is to describe the learning degrees of students with special needs in the inclusive high school classroom setting in Pangkalpinang City. The research methodology employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. The study focused on a single-family subject with a child on the autism spectrum. The CBT technique utilized was cognitive restructuring, comprising four steps: identifying the root problem, recognizing emerging feelings, managing erroneous or negative thought patterns, and forming new thought patterns. The treatment spanned four days, consisting of four sessions. The research findings indicate that through the application of CBT, parents experienced a shift in their attitudes towards understanding, awareness, and initiating interaction with their autistic child within the home environment in line with trust and openness towards their surroundings. However, parents have yet to consistently exhibit the trust they possess and still attempt interactions in environments of limited scope or low traffic, thus necessitating the need for parental trust management and consistency.
Galang Herlambang Bandoro, Imas Diana Aprilia Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/396 Sat, 25 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Cybergogy Theory Approach in the Implementation of Inclusive Education in Higher Education: A Literature Study https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/468
The implementation of inclusive education cannot be separated from the times. Currently, the era of massive use of technology, including in the scope of education. The purpose of this study is to examine the theory of cybergogy about inclusive education in higher education. The method used is a systematic review of the literature. The literature review was conducted by selecting articles from journals published within 5 years (2020-2024). The steps taken in this research are plan review, conduct review, and document review. The results of the literature study revealed that the cybergogy learning strategy significantly impacts students' learning experience. The cybergogy model activates cognitive, emotional, and social factors, and influences participation in online learning. However, there is still little literature that discusses the implementation of inclusive education using the cybergogy approach. Even though there are many studies on the use of technology in education, it seems that the application of cybergogy theory to inclusive education in higher education has not received much attention. Based on the analysis of the basic principles of cybergogy, there is an opportunity to combine the cybergogy approach with its implementation in inclusive education in higher education.
Tata Gading Jatiningsiwi, Ediyanto Ediyanto, Umi Safiul Ummah Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/468 Sat, 25 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 The Important Role of Inclusive Schools in Accepting Children with Special Needs in Cluster 2, Cibinong District, Bogor https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/473
Inclusive schools are places where children with special needs can learn together with other regular children. Children with hearing loss experience delays and communication difficulties due to delays in speech and language development. The main problem in language acquisition for deaf children is that they have difficulty understanding the meaning of words. The problem is that children can read, but they do not understand what they read. The title of this article is ``The learning media "ARASIK" in understanding the meaning of nouns in SDLB Deaf students at SLB Negeri Bogor" The theoretical foundations used in this study are: (1) understanding the meaning of words, as stated by Nurbeiti Jamalus that the meaning of a word is the relationship between the sound (language) of the word spoken or written with the object concerned; (2) Augmented Realitiy learning media promoted by scientists, that AR can visualize abstract concepts for understanding and the structure of an object model allows AR as a more effective media in accordance with the objectives of learning media. This research uses a descriptive-qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation studies. The data analysis technique used refers to Miles and Huberman (1994) which includes three activities, namely: (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion drawing from the application of "ARASIK" media. This type of learning, characterized by its lack of time constraints, grants students the freedom to acquire knowledge whenever they deem fit. Regrettably, visually impaired students have not been able to fully benefit from the widespread adoption of asynchronous learning, despite its proven effectiveness for diverse groups in gaining both academic knowledge and practical skills through LMS-based platforms. Consequently, this study endeavors to uncover the processes, obstacles, and educational experiences encountered by visually impaired students in the application of LMS-based asynchronous learning. The research employs a qualitative method, relying on in-depth interviews to gather comprehensive information. The collected data is subsequently transcribed, categorized, and carefully analyzed to derive conclusive study outcomes. The results reveal the specific requirements of visually impaired students in asynchronous learning via LMS, highlighting challenges such as comprehending video presentations, limited teacher interaction, accessibility issues, and incompatible reading formats.
Ana Fatimatuzzahra, Chintia Khoirunnisa, Neni Meiyani, Agus Irawan Sensus, Aini Qurrotullain Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/572 Mon, 17 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Factors Affecting The Effectiveness of Inclusive Education https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/550
The article describes the results of experimental and test work aimed at effectively organizing inclusive education and determining the factors affecting the successful implementation of the academic and social activities of children with disabilities in the pedagogical process. The experimental work was carried out in 17 schools in 4 cities of the country. 117 healthy , 53 disabled primary students, parents of the students, 45 educators were involved. During the study, methods of statistical analysis of Social Survey, observation, interview, picture keys, results were used. One important factor is the availability of resources and support services. Another factor is the attitude and thinking of teachers, students and parents towards inclusion. A positive attitude, the acceptance and support of all stakeholders will help create an inclusive culture in schools and classrooms. Conversely, a negative attitude, lack of support and understanding can hinder the success of inclusive education initiatives.
Feruzakhon Usmanovna Kodirova, Dustnazar Omonovich Khimmataliyev, Riksma Nurahmi Rinalti Akhlan, Mokhinur Akramovna Safiyeva Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/550 Mon, 17 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Risk of Children Born with Autism Spectrum Disorders Reviewed from Prenatal Factors https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/570
One of the factors causing a child to be born with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is prenatal, which is when the child is still in the womb. For this reason, abnormalities (disabilities) and giftedness are just a form of diversity, just like differences in ethnicity, race, language, culture or religion. Education should not need to differentiate between children in learning in the classroom. This is the case at SMPN 6 Jakarta as one of known to be around 12 students, the majority of whom are slow learners. Meanwhile, the condition of the teachers at SMPN 6 is also considered to have low pedagogical competence in dealing with children with slow learner needs, all of whom are general teachers. However, these limitations create problems during the learning process at school, especially in individual learning. The research results show that: (a) the pedagogical competence of special supervising teachers at SMPN 6 Jakarta is still lacking in understanding pedagogical competence; (b) the obstacle experienced by teachers is the unavailability of training programs that support teachers' understanding and mastery of students with special needs; (c) formulation of a training program to improve the pedagogical competence of special supervising teachers at SMPN 6 Jakarta for children with special needs in the form of a training program; and (d) the results of the implementation test of the pedagogical competency training program for special supervising teachers at SMPN 6 Jakarta showed that it had a significant positive impact.
Ayu Susanti, Imas Diana Aprilia, Oom sitti Homdijah Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/617 Mon, 17 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Inclusive Education in Early Childhood: Assessing Implementation in Pekanbaru Through The Ainscow Inclusion Index https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/443
The implementation of inclusive education in Indonesia since 2002 has provided opportunities for all students, including those with special needs, to receive education in their nearest schools. Inclusive education ensures that children with special needs receive education on the basis of equal rights with children of normal development. Currently, the education of children with special needs in the system of general education institutions is the main topic that has caused a wide discussion at the world level, and declarations and decisions are being made at the world level. Many countries of the world recognized them. But to date there are many problems in their implementation. In some countries, when laws or decisions on general education are adopted, the issue of education of disabled children is not included in it. But the recognition of inclusive education will not depend only on passing laws. Experiments were conducted in 14 schools in 3 cities of the republic. 114 healthy, 41 disabled students, parents of students, 36 pedagogues were involved. During the research, observation, interview, pictures, tests, and social survey were used.
Riksma Nurahmi Rinalti Akhlan, Dustnazar Omonovich Khimmataliyev, Omonova Nilufar Parda Qizi Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/557 Sat, 29 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Interventions to Improve Sensory Tactile, Auditory, and Visual Down Syndrome Children by Families https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/421
Various interventions aimed at addressing sensory challenges are available for Down Syndrome children, but interventions made based on the results of sensory intervention are exciting challenges to research. The inclusive education model has been supported by stakeholders, but in practice there are still various barriers that come from teachers, schools, parents, special education experts and the government. However, the evaluation of inclusive education revealed positive impacts such as increased public awareness and understanding of inclusive education, government efforts to increase the number of educators and improve their quality, and improved accessibility of public facilities for people with disabilities. Recommendations are also provided, especially regarding regulations governing the improvement of educators' competencies, socialization for subject teachers, community support and arrangements for funding the implementation of inclusive education in Indonesia.
Redydian Adhitya Nugraha, Ravik Karsidi, Abdul Rahman, Sunardi Sunardi, Asrowi Asrowi, Tri Murwaningsih, Mahardika Supratiwi Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/549 Fri, 05 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Teaching Self-Care and Hygiene During Puberty for Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/575
Adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have limitations in communication and social interactions caused by the presence of neurobiological disorders. Sexual violence can intentionally occur to someone in a sexual manner. This can even extend to attempted rape, sadism in sexual relationships, other unwanted sexual activities, demeaning and hurting or injuring the victim. One effort to prevent sexual violence is to equip young children with knowledge, skills, and abilities to protect themselves from the threat of sexual violence. The method used is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study are teachers in one Special School. Data collection in this study uses observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques use qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study show that special teachers need learning media for more structured and systematic inclusive education according to the learning stage process. Until now, there is still minimal learning media used for sexual education, especially for children with special needs. Good learning media must have clear, communicative, concise, and systematic language use. The scope of the content in the learning media must also adjust to the conditions of students who will be given learning.
Sayidatul Maslahah, Muhammad Anggie Farizqi Prasadana, Aisyah Nur Kamila, Muhammad Septiandi Copyright (c) 2024 Proceeding of International Conference on Special Education in South East Asia Region https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://educationcenter.id/journal/index.php/icsar/article/view/590 Fri, 05 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0000
